Bechamel sauce is a staple for French cuisine. This creamy and delicious sauce has a hint of peppercorn for spice.

Ingredients

  • 2 Tablespoons Buttermilk

  • 2 Tablespoons All-Purpose Flour

  • 1 Cup Chicken Broth

  • 1 Whole Onion, Chopped

  • 1 Whole Carrot, Diced

  • 4 Whole Peppercorns

  • 1 Whole Bay Leaf

  • 1 Pinch Parsley

  • 1/4 Cup Heavy Cream

  • 1 Dash Tony’s Original Creole Seasoning

  • Clear

Directions

  1. Melt butter in saucepan and cook until frothy.
  2. Add flour, stirring constantly for 3 minutes over very low heat.
  3. In another pot, simmer chicken broth for 10 minutes with onions, carrot, bay leaf, peppercorns and parsley.
  4. Strain broth and add to butter and flour, stirring constantly.
  5. Cook slowly until thickened.
  6. Stir in cream; cook for 5 minutes.
  7. Add Tony’s Original Creole Seasoning.
