Santé to the New Gumbo Stout!

Louisiana Locals Brew Up a Creole Masterpiece

Opelousas, LA – What could possibly be better with gumbo than a good stout beer? How about a stout made with Tony Chachere’s® Famous Creole Cuisine! Yes, you read that right. Tony Chachere’s and Bayou Teche Brewing are proud to introduce Gumbo Stout, with Creole spices for a limited time only!

Gumbo Stout is the perfect brew for the perfect fall meal. Adding gumbo to beer is a delicious combination. It gives the beer a roasted and smoky flavor from the roux and barley. Those flavors are accentuated by the salt, cayenne and black peppers. The rich, velvety stout has a hint of caramel thanks to the infusion of Tony Chachere’s Creole Instant Roux Mix, Creole Gumbo Base Mix, Creole Gumbo Dinner Mix and No Salt Seasoning Blend. It pairs wonderfully with gumbo, chili, beef stew, Reuben, Debris po’ boy, baked turducken, Cajun-style chicken sausage, beer-can chicken, or really whatever dish you want.

“You could say it’s the Cajun version of the Mexican Michelada … spicy, savory and thirst quenching,” said Brian Broussard, Bayou Teche Brewing’s Brewmaster. “Gumbo Stout plays off of the savory flavors of Tony’s Creole Roux with a nice, back-of-the-throat spiciness that traditional gumbo spices provide.”

Bayou Teche Brewing is known for blending the flavors of Louisiana. It was founded on the dream of crafting beers to complement the cuisine and lifestyle of Cajuns and Creoles; the perfect complement to Tony Chachere’s.

“Gumbo Stout has been a labor of love for all of us,” said Celeste Chachere, Director of Marketing for Tony Chachere’s. “Gumbo is a symbol of the melting pot of Louisiana’s Creole culture and there is no better example than when local companies come together to create something spectacular.”

“When you think of gumbo, you think of Louisiana … and nothing could be better than working with a local brewing company to bring our true flavors together, said Gerard Daigle, Business Development Manager at Tony Chachere’s. “Partnerships like this showcase the delicious combinations that can be brought to the tables of your home and restaurants.”

Come celebrate the launch of Gumbo Stout on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Bayou Teche Brewery. The Taproom opens at 11am, with free brewery tour, live music from 3pm-6pm, DJ Ole Paw Paw until closing, and of course the first tastes of Gumbo Stout. The first pour and a Campfire mug are $12 and four-packs are $10. Tony’s Creole Cruiser will also be on hand serving up samples of gumbo. Gumbo Stout will also be available for a limited time at local retailers in Louisiana.
