Bechamel Sauce

Bechamel sauce is a staple for French cuisine. This creamy and delicious sauce has a hint of peppercorn for spice!
Prep time: 10 minutes   Cooking time: 5 minutes   Serves: 2  


2 Tbsp. Buttermilk
2 Tbsp. All-Purpose Flour
1 Cup Chicken Broth
1 Whole Chopped Onion
1 Whole Carrot (Diced)
4 Whole Peppercorns
1 Whole Bay Leaf
1 Pinch Parsley
1/4 Cup Heavy Cream
1 Dash Tony Chachere's Original Creole Seasoning


1: Melt butter in saucepan and cook until frothy.
2: Add flour, stirring constantly for 3 minutes over very low heat.
3: In another pot, simmer chicken broth for 10 minutes with onions, carrot, bay leaf, peppercorns and parsley.
4: Strain broth and add to butter and flour, stirring constantly.
5: Cook slowly until thickened.
6: Stir in cream; cook for 5 minutes.
7: Add Tony Chachere's Original Creole Seasoning.
