Spiced Pound Cake

This is a light dessert with an abundance of butter to create the rich flavor of rich, creamy butter with a hint of nutmeg for spice. Great for picnics and potlucks.
Prep time: 15 minutes   Cooking time: 130 minutes   Serves: 8  


1/2 pound Butter
2 teaspoon Nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1 3/4 cup Sugar
5 Whole Eggs
2 cup Cake Flour


1: Have all ingredients at room temperature.
2: In a large bowl, soften butter; add spice and salt.
3: Using a mixer beat 4 minutes.
4: Gradually add sugar until fluffy, beating 2 minutes.
5: Beat in 4 eggs, one at a time.
6: Stir in all the flour at one time.
7: Beat 2 minutes.
8: Blend in remaining eggs.
9: Pour into well-greased, lightly floured 9 x 3 inch tube pan.
10: Place in a cold oven.
11: Set oven control to 300 degrees.
12: Bake 2 hours.
13: Remove and cool 10 minutes; place on a wire rack to finish cooling.
